Did you know that the earliest known Human consumption of Oats dates back to over 32,000 years ago with the Palaeolithic Hunter-Gatherers of what is now known as Southern Italy? And I'm sure we can all agree, when it comes to camping, these guys were Top-Drawer, Premo, First Class, Don-Daddies, absolutely no question about.
So it’s no surprise really that Porridge has stood the test of time, it’s been tried and tested through a literal Age.
The champion of outdoor breakfasts, especially when the weather gets nippy, you just can’t beat a bowl of steaming porridge. Winter Fuel at it’s finest.
Anyway, we’ve had a little chat in the shop about porridge and just how great it is to co-inhabit this planet with such a dense mass of delicious energy. Then we thought we’d cook up a couple of bowls using some of the gear we sell in the shop to show you guys how much the right gear really makes a difference when you’re in the sticks.
And on top of that, we had such a laugh chatting about our favourite Winter Camping meals that warm you from the inside out, that we’re asking you guys for your best recipes too! We’ll be diligently taking note and cooking them ourselves, and we’ll be giving away the gear we used in this video to those we find the most delicious!

Pop the lid on, and let the those oats get acquainted with the milk for a bit.
Whilst they’re dancing the in the pot, pull out a banana or two and start slicing them up good. We’re using the Companion from Morakniv, an awesome all rounder, suitable from food to bushcraft.
With the award winning Mora blade and a softer friction-grip handle for safety and stability, you’ll be happy you popped this in the bag.
Introduce the chia seeds to the party, another quick stir to make sure they’re all getting along and prepare your camping crockery.
Ta-Dah! We’re eating our Oats from the Bamboo Bowls from Soulife. Based in Melbourne, Soulife make these lightweight and heat resistant bowls from highly sustainable Bamboo.
